Blockchain technology is arguably one of the most significant developments in the software sector today. Most private users are familiar with it through their ownership of cryptocurrencies. Recent years have brought numerous (supposed) investment opportunities. Not always to the advantage of those who dared to take advantage of these investments.
New things also harbor potential for abuse. Organized financial crime actors are currently exploiting the inexperience of many crypto investors to commit investment fraud , broker fraud, and trading fraud related to cryptocurrencies. While perpetrators seek to exploit the supposed anonymity of cryptocurrencies, the underlying blockchain technology, due to its high level of transparency, also offers considerable investigative potential.
To combat organized investment fraud, we conduct blockchain analyses in-house using IT forensic tools and techniques. We track crypto transaction flows to determine the destination of cryptocurrencies and facilitate their recovery (see: Reversing Crypto Transactions ).
